Sunday Comics...an editorial.
It is shocking to us to read comments on the internet from people around the country who feel that New Orleans does not warrant the investment for proper flood control. Many cities are located in areas that could experience a catastrophic event. San Francisco and Los Angeles come to mind.
We can spend $200 billion a year to save the Iraqi's from themselves, we can slash taxes by the same amount...greed comes to mind, but we can't spend 20 billion on proper levies for one of the oldest and most unique cities in the country?
New Orleans survived Hurricane Katrina in fairly good shape. The problems began the next day when poorly designed and built levees failed. We only hope that more sensible voices will prevail.
