Acts Of Kindness
Ever wonder where those cans of food go after you donate them to food drives? During Katrina we often opened donated supplies to find combs, shampoo, canned peas and carrots and other foodstuff. It brought closure to these questions. And it was most appreciated.
Zupreme sent tons of pellets to be distributed to affected pet owners in the region.
We had a friend whose family evacuated to Denver and checked into a Motel 8. When the desk clerk saw his New Orleans address he said, "your money's no good here" and gave them a free room for two weeks. Same is true for another family that evacuated to Orlando and stayed a month.
One of our friends is hosting my sister and her family at a condo in Gulf Shores for a four day weekend of R&R. I get three calls a day from the family telling me how wonderful it is to get out of bed and not feel cold cement...or to look at the soles of their feet and not see gray powder.
I know that people in general are kind and giving. We've made donations to worthy cauuses for decades. But, when you are on the receiving end of kindnesses it makes you know that when you donated in the past, someone had very fond thoughts about you and you were unaware.
