Works Over, Waiting Begins
Thanks to our children and their friends, our 40 item to do list has dwindled to two or three. We are all exhausted. We now have 12 people in the house with two more to arrive either tonight or tommorrow morning. We also have 5 dogs, 7 cats, 4 snakes, 6 mice and 12 parrots. There are 10 breeder birds safely tucked inside one of our out-buildings. Our house is a monument to hurricane preparedness.
Provisions include enough sandwich material to feed 100 people for a week and enough beer and liquor to stay high for a month.
Meanwhile, the eye of Katrina is now visible on radar as it approaches the coast from 140 miles out. Speed is 11 mph so the eye should hit the coast in 10 hours and be here in 15.
