Send Food
By the time we got moving today all of the service stations were out of gas. We sent Rachael out tonight to WalMart to stock up on food. All we managed to get today was beer.
Everything in the yard that could be blown around has been picked up and we worked on preparations to hang plywood over windows in the living room and bird room to create two "safe rooms". Tommorrow we will finish boarding up, relocate our breeders to an indoor shelter in an unfinished guest house and cut down several dead pine trees that might fall in the wrong direction and cut our power lines.
Our "guests" will begin arriving around noon on Sunday, over a day before the eye of Katrina approaches.
We lived through the eye of Hurricane Camille in 1969. Camille is the second most intense storm in recorded history. Wind speeds were 195 mph with gusts to 215. This wind lasted for 6 hours. It gives you a special respect for these storms.
