Squirrel Control
Harris Hawk (Parabuteo unicinctus)
Last week we were driving around the property when a half-eaten squirrel carcass dropped from the sky and landed in our path. Looking up we were surprised to see a Harris Hawk in the tree overhead. Since them we have identified three birds who have taken residence on our property.
These birds have a wingspan up to four feet and are magnificent. We hope to have babies soon. We just haven't found the nest yet.
Raptors consider parrots food. We're sure they aren't a hit with the outside parrots but so far they are keeping their distance from our aviary.
