Refreshing
We had a couple from Hammond, LA over last night for a few hours researching birds. He was enthusiastic about getting a bird, she was frightened by large beaks. Neither wanted to buy a bird immediately. Both had done enough research on the internet to have a million questions...and several thousand misconceptions.
So we got to tell them everything we know about birds ...and repeat it several times.
This is the way it should be done. Take your time, do your homework, let the thrill of an immediate purchase pass, and make a good decision later. By the way, a good decision can be not to buy bird.
We hope they do. They seemed to be level headed and practical. The only problem is that it is hard to decide which type of bird to buy unless you actually have been around one for an extended time in the past. He's leaning toward Eclectus, she's leaning toward a Congo. He will go with a Congo if it makes her happy. She will get an Eclectus if it makes him happy.
We'll be happy regardless because we know our bird will be well taken care of and well loved.
